mgoetze
I'll see your 14-point spread and raise you another 20... LOL anyone who picked Jacksonville to cover (like Bill Simmons). Colin Kaepernick off to a hot start, responsible for 14 points in the first 6 minutes. Pyrrhic victory for the Steelers today... Ben leaving the field on crutches did not look good. Well, at least we won't have to debate who has the best offense in the AFC anymore. jjbrr
I hope this becomes a thing every week. "This is bigger than a football game,” Pagano said in the locker room after the game, clearly fighting back tears. “This is about life and learning lessons about life. That you can do anything that you want to do — anything!” Pagano praised his team for having “grit” and called the game “as big a win as I’ve ever been a part of in my life.” This is after blowing a 2-touchdown lead. The biggest win you've ever been a part of. You know what Bill Belichick has to say about that? "Kiss my rings." Here's another excellent piece of postgame humor: “I mean, I’m surprised, yeah, because of the players and how great we are, how good we look every day,” Ebron told the Detroit Free Press. “So I’m really surprised. But it’s the NFL. A few mistakes can make you 3-0 or 0-3. I mean, we’re 0-3 because of the mistakes we’ve been having and the mental errors and things like that. So we’ve just got to continue to work hard and get better.”
mgoetze
My favorite part of any offseason: people hyping up how this is finally going to be the year the Dolphins/Bills are competitive for the AFC East title.
mgoetze
Oh man I wish the Jags kicker had made his 2nd try at that game-winning FG with 6 seconds left in regulation. I didn't think Chuck Pagano deserved to be fired before (Grigson is clearly the guy holding the Colts back), but any head coach deserves to be fired for that idiotic "ice the kicker" move. Then, of course, in overtime, the Jags run a really conservative play on 3rd down because they're already in "field goal range". Haha, no such thing dude. But hey, at least they drafted a good punter.
mgoetze
I think Josh McCown is actually pretty decent. If I were a Browns fan (OK, that is a pretty terrifying thought), here are some QBs I would not want to trade him for: Sam Bradford, Nick Foles, Colin Kaepernick, Alex Smith, Andy Dalton. Anyone think any of those guys are better than McCown?
andrei
Well I'm not saying Kaepernick is elite just yet. But it is true that he's doing a better job of going through his progressions rather than just tucking and running at the first sign of trouble, stepping up in the pocket while staying in a passing stance. And he's learned a changeup to go with his fastball. Whether he can keep that up when he faces the Rams, I don't claim to know. Just saying there are signs of improvement. Yeap, at this point he is playing almost as good as Peyton.
jjbrr
Frustrations have been mounting for weeks, and escalated Saturday during practice prior to the game. Philbin has also been struggling on how to handle his franchise quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, who had been rattled even in practice sessions. On Saturday during practice, Tannehill, after a couple of practice squad players forced turnovers, Tannehill made negative comments toward them, including saying: “Enjoy your practice squad paycheck, enjoy your practice squad trophy.” Sources say this has been going on for the past few weeks as the practice squad players have been intercepting Tannehill and frustrating the former Texas A&M wide receiver turned quarterback. Philbin told the practice squad players to take it easy on Tannehill to not affect the young quarterback’s confidence. Per Salguero, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh wore sneakers to a full-padded practice on Thursday. A “prominent handful” of teammates viewed the choice in footwear as an expression of dissatisfaction with defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle. lols for everyone

mgoetze
What was this about? The end of the Seahawks-Lions game. By "most ridiculous rule in football" I meant the rule that if you fumble the ball out of the opponents' endzone, it's a touchback (the opponents get a free turnover without ever having to establish possession of the football), not the illegal batting rule. billw55
how long does jameis winston last in the league as a starting qb? is 3 seasons too high?Well, I assume he has the standard four year rookie contract. And he seems to be reasonably durable. Plus, Tampa Bay. My guess is he plays out the contract.

Cyberyeti
Well it looks like the Steelers got the officials out of a hole by actually scoring on the last play of the game on first down when there should have been another 18 seconds on the clock.
