mgoetze
The trade that sent quarterback Sam Bradford from the Rams to the Eagles was surprising when news of it first emerged. It’s now become downright confusing. The Eagles have announced the deal, which consists of Bradford for Nick Foles plus three draft picks. The Eagles get from St. Louis a 2015 fifth-round pick, and the Rams get from Philadelphia a 2015 fourth-round pick and a 2016 second-round pick. While the announcement doesn’t mention any other terms, Albert Breer of NFL Media reports that, if Bradford doesn’t start eight games, the Eagles get a fourth-round pick back from the Rams. Likewise, if Bradford is injured, the Eagles get a third-round pick from the Rams. (The trigger for the “injury” condition isn’t known. Possibly, the third-round pick becomes and issue only if Bradford suffers a season ending injury before Week One.) I thought the Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy trade was pretty smart, but this ... this is madness. I mean they are giving up all these draft picks for the privilege of paying Sam Bradford $13 million dollars to maybe play football? Revis is back with the J-E-S-T. Well, I guess one ring is enough for some people.

mike777
Kelly thinks Bradford is a big upgrade for his system. If upgrade the price is cheap. IF system is more important then price is cheap. If making Kelly GM was a mistake then none of this matters. the owner is to blame. the issue is giving Kelly this power.---------------------- Football is a very violent sport with a very short life span. Money does talk.

Zelandakh
let us all take a moment to LOL 9ers.I don't need a moment for that - it is automatic any time their record is significantly worse than the Cowboys. Similarly for Washington, Philly and the Giants. :) To my mind anything that is bad for the Eagles is great news, so if this trade goes the way posters are expecting I think it is perfect! :D
billw55
Admit I am baffled by the Foles-Bradford deal. Foles seems to be a middle of the road starter, while Bradford is beyond hope of ever playing much. I have heard a couple people pushing the theory that this is an intermediate step in a scheme by Kelley to land Mariota. Not sure what to think of that. Not sure what to think of that. That might make sense if the Eagles had netted draft position, but they actually gave more than they got in the way of draft picks - how's that going to help you land Mariota? I can't imagine any team giving up a first round pick for Bradford. Well except maybe the Jets... they are the Jets after all...

billw55
Did he have to pass a physical or do the Eagles just not care?Right. It doesn't add up. There obviously must have been a physical. But I would think his history would sway the decision even if the doctors clear him. Two ACL tears, come on. Maybe Chip Kelley is some kind of mad genius or something. Or not. Let's see what he does next.

Let's see what he does next. He ran the spread offense at OU back in 2010 so Kelly must love that. Of course it just takes one clean hit to knock out any QB but I hope Kelly knows or gets some medical advice about the two ACL tears. Now in Chicago we have a QB that perhaps Chip will trade for. :)Looks like Chip got Murray.
billw55
Go after DeMarco Murray apparently, which should help any QB.Got him. Apparently Murray and Bradford were roommates at Oklahoma. Could this be the entire reason for getting Bradford?

mgoetze
Cardinals are mortgaging the future, kicking $7m of Carson Palmer cap hits down the road via contract restructure. Chip Kelly confirmed crazy. 5y/$40m for Murray with $20m guaranteed. How on earth is Demarco Murray worth more than twice as much as Shane Vereen? mike777
Again the owners put all this power in one person's hand. That is where the blame or credit lies.
mgoetze
Why would you give up a draft pick to pay Mike Wallace $9.85m when you could just wait for him to be cut and sign him for $4m?
ArtK78
I am an Eagles fan and I am fine with the moves Kelly made. We will see how they work out. But I make the Eagles the favorite in the NFC East.
mgoetze
Well, if winning the NFC Least is your goal, you are setting the bar pretty low. ;)
cherdano
This is sad. I thought Chip Kelly is a great coach, but now he seems to have a terrible GM. :((I bet Bill Simmons will come up with a name for this phenomenon. Maybe a Doc Rivers award?) mgoetze
There are some rumors that the Chargers might trade Philip Rivers to the Titans in exchange for the 2nd overall pick. That would certainly rank among the craziest deals in NFL history. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/04/05/talk-in-tennessee-of-titans-making-a-run-at-rivers/

PhantomSac
Chip Kelly goes from crazy to absolutely nuts... after trading for Sam Bradford, he is now signing Tim Tebow. Nah, I haven't seen contract details but I would guess $0 guaranteed so if he doesnt make the roster it is basically irrelevant. And if he does w/e it will be vet min. I mean, let's put it this way, Belichick did the same thing (signed tebow with no guarantee), Tebow could be useful to a smart offensive coach potentially, he was a goal line package beast. I am not sure how one should use him but Kelly or BB trying to figure it out makes sense, he clearly had value, just not at throwing the ball lol. (only half5%-seriously): For 2nd and goal from the 2: Given that he's left handed, put in the single wing and use him as wingback. Buck lateral to him (directly from the fullback) to throw to the blocking back going through the line to the left side of the endzone. Though you'd need the tailback to block on his backside, and you might not want to risk your passer or your best runner for that job, and anyone else might be suspicious. Also you might not have a fullback who can accurately triple-option style flip the ball out as a lateral a half second after catching a direct snap, all while running forward. (That's why the traditional buck lateral plays usually involved a handoff from the fullback to the blocking back, but we need the blocking back to run a pass route here.) billw55
I suspect that the Tebow thing is some kind of stunt. No way he is actually making the roster. Maybe they are "signing" him to their scouting department.
