mikeh
Mps may be worth a gamble, hoping to nip it a trick but I wouldn't do it. I bid 3♥ at all scoring and hope to survive

FWIW I was the doubler on this hand, my partner had the problem
mikeh
May I ask why 3♥ as opposed to 3♦? FWIW I was the doubler on this hand, my partner had the problem If partner has classic shape, 3♦ is better. When he is off-shape, he will have 4 hearts slightly more frequently than he will have 4 diamonds. Having said that, he will have 5 diamonds more often than 5 hearts. I think it to be very close. One reason to bid 3D is that 3H is more likely to be raised to the four level. This is only useful if you can rely on partner to have classic shape, of course.
Phil
3♦ for me too - same reasons as sfi. It allows partner to show (rather than raise) hearts and will tend to slow him down.
neilkaz
3♦ for me as I can't pass with this junk and weak trumps and I don't want PD taking a push to 4M trying for game.

yunling
I'll just try my luck and pass if the preempt is more aggressive than average. Otherwise 3♦.
mr1303
I'll take my chances with a pass at mps.
nige1
[hv=pc=n&e=st74ht52djt9ck872&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=p3cdp]133|200|Does form of scoring make a difference?[/hv] IMO 3♦ = 10. 3♥ = 9. Pass = 8. 3♠ = 6. 3N = 5. Pass is more attractive at MPs. Other posters seem to be right that 3♦ is the safest improvisation. 3♦ is less likely to be raised. 3♦ gives partner room to bid 3M, which you can pass. When you might be fixed, partner is aware that, the more expensive the strain, the more likely it is to be real a suit. ggwhiz
I (almost) agree with nige1 but would switch the pass and 3♥ calls considering that partner may be inclined to raise the latter.
