Matchpoints.

Do you agree with 1D?

East will double North's bid (assuming it is 2C or 2H (nf. const)) for support.

How do you bid from there?

I would bid 3 by N (fit + nat)

I am never finding this slam. I would consider it to be a success to be able to have methods and/or judgement to bid the game. It is easy on forums but I see a lot of missed games like this.

I can easily see N bidding 2, E doubles, S passes, W bids 2sp or 3cl, N bids 3 all passes or EW may drag you to 4 dia or even to the game. Or they may save over 4 being let to play for down 1.

Knowing 4 card fit can make S very aggressive.

Do I agree with 1. Yes. Of course it isn't ideal, but it is a 6 card suit for ... sake.

As for the rest, I echo Ace's comments. These sorts of double fit hands with all or most of the honours in the right places are much more common than people realise. Sometimes both side's will get busy and injudicious doubles get thrown about and all sorts of crimes against bridge are committed.

Not only am I not finding this slam either, but I will consider it a victory to even buy the hand at the right level, since the opponents have a very cheap save in clubs.
