cherdano
You might want to share whether you are playing Lebensohl...
cherdano
In any case, this is not a situation where you should bid a shorter major instead of a longer minor. We know that partner is likely to be short in clubs. He will often overcall a 5-card major instead of doubling, but he will rarely overcall 3♣ with a 5-card suit instead of doubling. I think his average club length is higher than his average heart length (unless he had a double-and-bid hand). This is not a case where we have to cater to 4=4=3=2. mgoetze
You might want to share whether you are playing Lebensohl...Well, we didn't explicitly agree Lebensohl. That's all I know.
gszes
voted 2n assuming leb w/o leb would go with 3c If p cannot show extra values we should be more than high enough
phoenix214
I prefer 2♥ with the hand, because partner will go out of his way to bid double with both major hands, atleast that is what i think. In that case he should be more likely to have longer hearts then spades. Although dont know if partner expects 3 or 4 with you.
mgoetze
This didn't go so well... [hv=sn=phil&s=SAQJ754HAQ72DJCA5&wn=sillafu&w=SKT2HJ5DKQT953CJ6&nn=mgoetze&n=S98HT84DA742CQT43&en=tsadek&e=S63HK963D86CK9872&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=2DPPDP2HP4D(splinter)P4HPPP&p=D8DJDQDAH4H3HQH5C5C6CQCKD6H2D5D2SAS2S8S3SQSKS9S6STC3H6S4C2CACJC4HAHJH8H9SJD3D4&c=9]400|300[/hv] Do you think double-then-2♠ would have shown South's hand, or something else? At the other table, Derric opened 3♦ (gutsy ;) ) and JEC did not bother doubling, going straight to 4♠.
suokko
JEC followed rule that 6-4 is single suited. He keeps bidding simple but effective. That makes it easy for partner if knowing about a few unusual bidding habits. But there is one option also. No lebensohl to weak 2 diamond even if playing it to weak 2M. That is very much playable concept.
cherdano
Agree with Phil's bidding. Over 2♦, you don't want to insist on spades since you have the space. And once partner bids 2♥, you have found a fit - no reason to make things more complicated. You have a very good slam opposite a hand with the major suit kings.
