PhantomSac
xAJxxxxAJxxxx w/w imps. You open 1H and the auction goes 1H (2C) 4H (4S)5H (5S) AP You don't play precision but your partner likes to bid 4H a lot in these spots. RHO's 4S bid was in tempo (waited ~10 seconds), your LHO was pretty happy to bid 5S given the normal tempo in this kind of auction (maybe 5 seconds). Your lead? mikeh
obvious small diamond.....most heroic lead imaginable. LHO is 4=0=3=6 and rho 6=2=4=1 Partner has KQxxx Kx in the reds. ATT, don't think I am brave/crazy enough to do this, but I like it.

eagles123
well in real life i'd lead ace of heart lol
cherdano
I would lead ♦A. This lets us cash two red suit winners pretty much whenever possible, and still preserves most of the chances to cash three.
MrAce
Lol I was actually curious what people thought the right lead was To be honest, I don't see anything that strongly suggests me to make some genius lead here. All i know is we pushed them to 5 level, I have 2 defensive tricks and pd may produce one or not. I am not as brave or heroic to do something that will make one of my winners go bye bye. I am aware ♥ A may not be a trick and aces tend to be ruffed at 5 level contract, but I also seen a lot of 5 level pushed contracts go down w/o doing something very special. gnasher
♥A seems normal. It's going to be hard to beat this contract if we don't have a heart trick.
PhantomSac
♥A seems normal. It's going to be hard to beat this contract if we don't have a heart trick. I agree with the second part, I was thinking of maybe a low heart in case partner has the DQ and RHO has the king. Obviously it requires a parlay, but it also does not cost that often; I'm not sure what the odds of losing to their stiff king (when we could have beaten it otherwise) is. If we changed our diamonds to the AQ I think underleading the heart is a stand out. Obviously that's a different hand and requires much less of a parlay, but I thought the theme might be similar here. I thought the tempo suggested 4126 in dummy to be somewhat likely (or a heart void in which case underleading will be better than leading the ace). benlessard
I assume that by a low you meant a middle spot, since the lowest H could be seen as club void ?
PhantomSac
I assume that by a low you meant a middle spot, since the lowest H could be seen as club void ? Ya I led the highest non jack heart. I think it should be suit preference when you underlead in this kind of spot. For what it's worth no lead was beating it.
