Brandal
Not to mention people who don't say "glp" "typ" and don'tsay a word for an hour.....it really doesn't take alot of effort. I agree with all you are saying, except this. ty or typ when dummy comes down is fine, but why dummy must say glp I can't understand. In real life bridge you say thanks or something similar when declarer sees dummy, but dummy never says good luck partner. Why should it be different on the internet? I don't think it's impolite not to wish partner good luck. I think it's just fine to do the same as you do at the table with a ftf partner. Roland It's a little bit of the same thing with "wdp" really. Like the word "love",when overly used it completelyor partially loses it's true meaning. When my pd says wdp and I have just managedtwo extra tricks only thanks to bad defending, it reallyhas lost its value the few times when wdp is in order. :)

And, the opponents can consider it quite rude (pointing out their defensive shortcomings like that).

Yes,I certainly feel something like that whenI'm defending, and have done very badly. :)

Roland Saying "good luck" here is quite common, I usually say "good luck" when playing f2f, maybe different habits in different parts of the world :-)

mycroft
On the last 10 or so... Around here, it's pretty common to say "good luck" or the like. Especially when like me, you're related to the "Sultan of Spot"... I never say "wdp" - the chance that I missed some dumb defence and instead attribute it to expert declarer play is high enough, and it's much lower than most... I never use "typ" or "glp", however. I can type 60 wpm, and those have looked to me like "typical" and "gulp" since day 1. "thx, pd" and "luck, pd" do for me. Brandal: I guess it's time for me to change my profile to the one I used on That Other Site: "Multiple exclamation marks [or?] are a sure sign of a diseased mind." - Terry Pratchett, via Rincewind (and others) Anyone who leans on the ! or ? key gets automatically ignored by me, and should have at least one of the following applied: a) Typematic on their computer turned off - permanently;b) The appropriate little finger removed (Qwerty only - don't know Dvorak). I'm a long term USEnetter - since just after The Great Renaming - and basically, anybody that SHOUTS AT ME or is incredulous??????? gets turned off.
