Polish Club - summary in English?

Look at Dan's system page. There are many variants there.

Thanks. That looks great but it's $10 US. Is there a short, free summary anywhere? I've found lengthy articles (45page summary: http://www.bridgeguys.com/pdf/PolishClub/polish_club_summary.pdf), but I'm looking for something concise.

No look further down the webpage. There are summaries of Matula's version, a comprehensive write up of Strefa, WJ as played by Balicki and als WJXX1 a really neat version of Polish Club which I heartily recommend.

These are surely nice, but if you want to know what most people in Poland actually play you'll want to look at WJ2000 and WJ2005 instead.

Not particularly concise, but really helpful if you want to play Polish Club: the complete English translation of Jassem's WJ2005 is available free of charge. (http://www.bridgewithdan.com/systems/WJ2005webpage.htm)

Thank you very much. If I get around to summarising it I'll certainly post it on the net because it seems like nobody else has done so!

Have their been any further "standard" revisions since WJ05, or has Jassem decided WJ05 is the definitive version?

There is the 2010 version, which you have to pay for. There is another published Polish Club version around that someone played against me recently, but I don't remember the name of the author.

I haven't played much Polish Club lately so I can't give many specifics, but I played it quite regularly about 10 years ago. We started off with the WJ2000 version. About 6 months into playing it, WJ2005 came out and I went through the book quite thoroughly to compare versions. We adopted a few treatments (I seem to remember liking the responses to 2C better for example) but stuck with most of the earlier system. It seemed to be more cohesive and many of the changes were not clear improvements. From memory, WJ2000 was an attempt to describe standard expert practice while WJ2005 included a number of the author's preferred treatments, and that detracted from the quality. That could simply be because I was used to the other one though.

I've read the 2010 version and it looks an improvement on both. I do have to play it in a couple of weeks so will have a much better idea after that.

Yes, in my experience mainstream Polish bidding is closer to WJ2000 than WJ2005.
