Kibitzer's chat

Recommended Posts

Have you notice the change at the kibitzer change of good tables lately ?

Till not long ago , the chats looked more or less like a normal vugraph game, some real experts gave their comments, weaker players, talked only where they had something importent to say, now this is changed , the kibitzers chat is flood with nonsense, mostly not about bridge, but even the comments ragarding the cards are shallow given by weak players(avarage BBO expert is still weak when comentatoring is concern) without much thought, or need. It looks like a football game.

As you understand i really dont like it.

That was bound to happen. The internet is one giant chat room and download area. Not much you can do about this.. it's a sign of the times.

I beg to disagree. This always happens when a "big" match is in progress in the Main Bridge Club (especially when Garozzo-De Falco have been playing lately). I, naively perhaps, thought that people go there to watch top class bridge and not to express all kinds of nonsense comments.

They are not vugraph broadcasts, and no commentators are scheduled. I think it's great that people who usually do not get the chance to commentate on the auction and play voice their opinions to a large audience, but I also think it's irritating when (too) many think it's more important to chat about the weather in Baltimore, the stock market in Frankfurt and the advantages of using viagra.

We've got chat rooms in case people believe that these topics are worth discussing at a bridge site with some 150 specs around. I have a feeling, however, that those gatherings won't attract quite that many.

If your aunt's corns are bothering her, you should perhaps consider sending a private chat message to one or two who might be interested. There is probably also some state-registered chiropodist around who will be happy to tell you what the cure is (free of charge even).

Let the rest get a quiet time so that they can enjoy what this is all about: a good game of bridge.

Walddk2->Kibitzers: Thanks for all the advice. I'll try everything and let you know if it worked.

I find it hard to understand what you're complaining about. Were you talking about bridge? As the saying goes: people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Slothy tells me that it was Rolands Evil twin doing that:) But imo i think Roland is allowed this given the excellent comments and work we see and read from him during vugraph and no cure against amoritis Roland, lucky for us it not contagous:)

I think we should accept a little chat, it's human after all (and I have seen lots of bad feelings generated by trying to enforce chat to stay ontopic by admins on other (non-bridge) servers). It would be nice to have lobby chat blocked though for tables with 4 gold starts and 100 kibitzers...

Sure it's ok for some small talk, but most were discussing the hands except for one person who talked about anything but bridge. Therefore I fail to see the necessity of the above post. In fact I find it rather strange.

Alex, sharpen that pencil quick! Else this thread might die

Jimmy, I agree with you, not bothered by chat at all.... i find it witty ,smart and fun, even though it has nothing to do with bridge at times....... Garozzo and De Falco are having fun, why shouldnt we?

See you all tomorrow!! :D

Naive you are

if you believe

life favours those

who aren't naive

"Grooks" (he wrote about 10,000!) was the name Piet Hein (1905-1996), mathematician, inventor, poet and scientist - one of our nation's all time greats - devised for his short pithy poems. Here is another one (not translated into English officially, but I have below):

Den som tager spøg for spøg og alvor kun alvorligt

Han har faktisk fattet begge dele lige dårligt!

-- Piet Hein

He who takes a joke for a joke and seriousness only seriously

He has actually comprehended both equally badly!

There are several 'groupies' who kib the de falco-garozzo table - they desperately seek exposure and recognition - there are several acid tongues who belittle the groupies - there is even one who is both. There are the 'holier than tho' types - the astute - the students - the masters - the curious - the inane. Gotta love it - but what I love the most is that I can watch legends playing a game I really like. So what the heck!
