pass

Life is tough and sometimes this will not work (spade ace with lho) but

I only have the dia K to contribute to a 5 level contract and I might

easily score 2 spade tricks after my club lead plus whatever p can contribute.

For our side to have any chance at 5 level p will surely be able to take 3

defensive tricks so even if we miss game we might come out ahead 500 to 400.

If the opps make maybe p will realize they need more to x next time:)))) since you

are likely to leave it there.

Thx all. Here are the hands:

[hv=pc=n&s=sha8732daqjt5caj6&w=sqjt87hkqj4d8ckt4&n=sk52ht95dk9763c75&e=sa9643h6d42cq9832&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1sp4sdppp]399|300[/hv]

Having seen my "customers" performing in the previous hands, I decided a void across was not a given, so I passed.

By the second time in the session, I felt sick after seeing the dummy, and even more after realizing I gave away the club jack. But then declarer fell from grace trying to drop the (would-be) singleton K offside... http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

I told pard a 4NT two-suited overcall might have been better. Would you have done it?

IMPS

4 = preemptive raise.

Dbl = take out

Bid?[/hv]

IMO

  • South, over RHO's 4: Double = 10, 4N = 8.
  • North, after the partner doubles 4: Pass = 10, 5 = 8, 4N = 5.
