jgillispie
As Dealer S, what is your bid?: [hv=pc=n&s=saqh62d752cakt632&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1c1nd2d(5%2B%20!H)]133|200[/hv] (Note: If you pass, what do you bid given the next round?)[hv=pc=n&s=saqh62d752cakt632&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1c1nd2d(5%2B%20!H)p2hdp]133|200[/hv]

Jinksy
What's the second X? If it's penalty I'll respect it, if takeout, I know where it's getting taken out to.
Cthulhu D
Not an expert, but isn't this forcing through to at least 2NT after the Pen X of 1NT? Given that pass would be forcing logically this is a penalty double, which I will pass. My failure to crack 2D has to suggest a lack of values there, and if partner wanted to consult or try for some sort of cooperative penalty double of 2H he'd pass and I'd bid 3C. Given that partner knows mostly what's going on (I do not like that I have a 6 bagger in a short club context), his decision is more likely to be right. Zzjurt
Pass and pass again. The first pass is to give p the opportunity to dblnow he does I am happy to pass.If he had passed 2♥ I would have bid 3♣
roofman
Why is 2d highlighted? Is it transfer? I play 123 doubles here. 1st double is values, 2nd double by either player take out, 3rd double penalties. Obviously changes the whole hand. If all doubles are penalties i am not ashamed of my hand with two bullets and two trumps. And with lho bidding 1nt, 3nt for us must be miles away. gszes
hard to imagine so many agreeing to pass over 2d. We have a very nice 6 card club suit which p has zero reason to suspect wehave. Partner can never make a reasoned decision based on suchfaulty information. P may be more than willing to sit for 2hxif we are a balanced minimum but we are not even close to thatwith our nice clubs and a hugely probable immediate side entryin spades. bid 3c over 2d and save your passes for more balanced hands. Once in a rarewhile you sill miss a nice penalty but you will bid a ton more games. 3c=8 pass=3 and this is over the 2d bid if you chose pass and the 2nd xcomes around you might as well pass and hope this is one of those 30% hands:)
