And double?Pass would show a boring hand (i.e. not a good 6-card spade suit, and probably not a 5-5). Double would be a penalty suggestion. 3♣ promises 5-5 in the blacks; partner probably wouldn't bid it if he had a minimum with poor clubs. Good hand for a 2♦ transfer, eh Mark? If partner has only 11 a pass from him was better than 3C even with 6:6. If I bid 6NT at least I showed that I trusted my partner more than I trusted LHO. If I close at 3NT and make 6 both me and my partner are going to feel more depressed than if I go down at 6NT. 3NT looks like less adventurous and more professional bid. Flame Posted February 28, 2005 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 I think 6NT would fail more then make, maybe still worth bidding and maybe depend on vul and scoring.Did everyone gave up on playing heart contract because they think NT would be best or because there will be no way to convice partner that we really mean hearts ?
