blackshoe
3♣, a fragment bid. It's minimum for that, but "if the minimum weren't good enough, it wouldn't be the minimum". :P

MrAce
3♣, a fragment bid. It's minimum for that, but "if the minimum weren't good enough, it wouldn't be the minimum". :P What is wrong with 2♣ if you really want to make another move for a non vulnerable game? whereagles
Full hand:[hv=pc=n&s=s95hkj96dk96cqj62&n=saj87htdaqt75ca85&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1dp1hp1sp1n]266|200[/hv] In this case both 2/3♣ clubs get you to 3NT, but honestly I think if you're going to bid, 2♣ is probably the best bid. It definitely must an invitational bid (else pass 1NT) and even if pard passes with 4 clubs, it must have a play for. In this case it will meet with a likely 3♦/3NT from South, reaching a good game. 3♣ will be an overbid if pard has like 6-7 and 2NT may also get you too high. biggerclub
I think partner's second call should be 2NT to make it easier for us to PASS with this hand. However, because my partners are never this considerate, I like 2♣s as most likely to get us to the right spot when partner has 6-7 HCP. Give partner 96xx in ♥s and on this hand I hope they prefer ♦s but that may be a bit much to ask. The 4-3 fit shouldn't play too poorly anyway. We should be able to scramble 8 tricks in ♣s. BillPatch
I think I would bid 2♣ rather than pass vulnerable, but the bonus at IMPs for the non-vulnerable game is not enough to sway me from the ultra-safe 1 NT, which I hope to score an IMP or 2 because it will be a high-scoring partial. I disagree that partner should have bid 2 NT on his flat 10 hcp. With most 15 hcp hands I would be balanced or semi-balanced enough to open 1NT, so to continually risk playing in 2NT opposite borderline openers for the chance I might hold such a strong hand is anti-percentage.
