My thread contained 2 questions:

1. Double or overcall the hand in question. Well answered thanks for that.

2. Is this a good idea? Forget the actual hands what do the sequences mean?

1-x-p-2

2-3 competitive with 4 hearts

1-x-p-2

2-x-p-3m

p - 3 invite with 4 hearts

Wank was the only one to give an opinion and he thought it was bollocks

Well I thought the second double was a game try in hearts. 3m is passing the buck and 3 signoff.

Maybe Phantom can tell us.

Using the second double as specifically a game try in hearts leaves too many hands unbiddable, typically you have a strong hand with 3 hearts to double again (or possibly less with some kind of super strong hand or 2245 with a not great suit that doesn't wanna bid 3m?). e.g. xx AKx AKxx Axxx I think everyone would want to double again showing significant extra values and still trying to compete. Many people would play that the 2nd double never has 4 hearts, you either pass or bid 3 or bid 4H with a fit, I think Wackojack is suggesting maybe X and then bid hearts should show 4 hearts and an invite.

This is what I believe too. I do not think there are too many hands which you will want your pd to pass and only pass when we raise him to 3 level vs his simple 2 anyway. At 2 level it is competitive raise, at 3 level it is way too much imho to play raise just 4 cards and nothing extra. And second double to me denies 4 card .
