5 Diamond

Broadly speaking, ruff 2 clubs, take spade finesse, cash a heart and K and endplay W with ace and another diamond to give you 2 more spade tricks or a ruff and discard. I'm not sure you can do all this on a heart lead though.

Can't see why not - in your line you are cashing a heart anyway.

The problem with these types of hands is that while there is indeed a

couple of ways to make 5d double dummy those LOP should not normally be

adopted when the benefit of seeing the opps hands is not available.

On this hand you would normally just peacefully go down 1 losing a

club a heart and a trump unless east specifically goes out of their way to

show you the club AK and the heart QJ (they cannot have the dia K and

pass originally).

If the defense gives up that much information then cashing the top dia

(trying to drop the stiff dia K) and later trying in for a strip and throw

in might work but don't bet on seeing such helpful defense too often.

Yes is double dummy. The part where you cash exactly one is especially bad. You have to peek at opps hands to get this right. Think better to take finesse and go down like a man! lol Unless opps have made a very descriptive bid.

You don't have to cash only one , you just have to lead up to them the 2nd time so if W ruffs it is a loser.

You do have to lead before playing the 2nd to break the entry for a 2nd ruff and you can't play 2 rounds of before the 2nd or E can overruff dummy.

You've posted the hand using hand viewer & GIB. If you want to know how to make 5D, just follow the DD play through on your original post. Press the GIB button and it will tell you which cards lead to how many tricks. Press it again to turn it off long enough then press Play and select cards to the trick.
