ETA - how did I forget to put in 1N?! That was the bid I actually chose at the table...

RunemPard
It is a nice hand, but we still need a lot. 2C is the only bid to me unless we are desperate to find a game. Then I might try 1H or double.
the_clown
Pass if not playing any special gadgets. If I really needed to do something I may try 1NT. With my regular partner I can bid 2♥ to show exactly 4♥ and longer ♣ (constructive)
whereagles
Opposite a knowledgable pard, pass. Else a confident 2♣ seems fine.

rmnka447
1 NT using the "one card off" principle. Dick Bruno discussed this at a regional in Illinois last year when going over how to handle hands that don't quite fit any bid. Basically, the idea is to consider if one of the small cards were in a different suit what you would bid. Here, if a ♣ or ♥ were a ♠, it would be an easy 1 NT call for most people. So you're only "lying" by one card. I don't like a 2 ♣ overcall with such an anemic suit, especially with red pockets at IMPs. 1 NT keeps the ♥ suit in play also. Over 1 NT, if partner finds a bid showing ♥s, I'm super accepting. This hand has virtually all prime value cards and a big fit even though a minimum NT overcall. chasetb
It's really close between 1NT and Pass. With anyone other than expert partners, I'll bid 1NT, since they won't ever play me for this point count, and it's only 1 card off. With an expert partner, Pass is the best call. Of course, Raptor 1NT overcall is my preferred choice, but I don't know anyone that would play it.
Jinksy
What would you expect from an expert partner that would let you pass? Just that they might generally be willing to play you for more points if you then made a strong action, or a specific understanding about foreseeable sequences? (Just added 1N to the OP. Not sure how I managed to forget it, given that it was my choice at the table!)
kenrexford
A stiff Ace is a really good doubleton.
mycroft
I think it depends, as several are saying, how many "random BBO opps" you have. If it's 3, don't pass! I like 2♣ over 1NT (but given Sac's ordering, I maybe should rethink that), but that's because I want my 1NTs to be *good 15* min, and I think there are too many flaws for the aces and kings and tens to make it a good 15; not because of the stiff spade. The adjusted HCP strength of the hand is arguably 17, using the three and a third method. The tenaces seem to support that adjustment. Heck, I can get this hand to 18 without feeling silly. MrAce
This seems like a good 15 to me. It is actually VERY good 15.
Cascade
1 NT using the "one card off" principle. Yeah but we are also "one card off" 1♥, 2♣ and 2NT. So how do you choose?
Cascade
Pass I can live with but 15 high card points seems too much to sit passively. Dbl I hate. I need two more spades or about three or four more points before it comes into the ball park. 1♥ I frequently overcall a four-card suit on hands like this but these hearts are very quite poor. 1NT I don't mind overcalling 1NT with a side suit stiff however only one stopper - the ten doesn't quite boost it enough for me - doesn't seem appetising. 2♣ I like better or more clubs but in some sense its the textbook bid. 2NT I don't mind the idea of showing two suits with 4=5 but I am not going all of the way to 2NT to misdescribe my hand. Other Nothing else comes to mind. If I am feeling boring I will bid 2♣ if I am more adventurous I will go 1♥. Another day maybe 1NT.
Fluffy
pass and 1NT are fine, 2 clubs its not.
