East has overcalled hearts

Lead: C9[/hv]

You arrived in a reasonable 6 given the auction where East is a favourite to hold A. Without interference the slam is rather bad, around 34% because it needs A on side and clubs 3-2.

Anyway, that's academic, because East overcalled 3 after 1 pass 2. West leads 9. Plain sailing now, isn't it?

P.S. No jokes about my slams please :)

First you should play small from dummy incase west has 109xx or j9xx in clubs.

Now there is a point in ruffing 2 diamonds in hand, but imo you will still be in a guess later, even if east turn out to have only 2 diamonds(3 would make it even harder), you still wont be sure if west kept A of heart single or a small heart single. still it will have a good chance since you will see how west discard

i win the queen from dummy unblocking the 7, AK and a spade to the jack, 8 of clubs...assuming they cover i win, diamond to ace, 6 of clubs...assuming they cover, club to 5 and a heart up.
