This one is beyond comment. Can anyone come up with a proper way to describe GIB's bid of 6NT?

Partner held a small singleton spade.

Slam was cold in clubs, diamonds AND hearts.

Here it is with all the GIB explanations.

South has apparently shown 22 total points (and up to 21 HCP) at the point of North's decision, suggesting that there can be no sacrificial intent behind the 5C bid (or even as insurance). It is still possible to be off two top Spades and be consistent with GIB explanation, but I suspect that Gib regarded this unlikely, and thus influential in the motive for the 6N bid.

If you agree with the 5C bid (but for the way that it would be interpreted by GIB), then there are three issues with the hand of which the 6N bid is one, the Double is a second issue, but also the requirement for 22 total points in order to bid 5C is the third.

its a competitive auction, you usually wont have 22 pts for this auction. youll have long and your counting on p for something so shouldn't need 22!

Not to mention the opponents have shown some values, so Gib has allocated or has 25 pts than leaves only 15 at a max more points left for south in the deck.

All valid points, although only one merits discussion. The 6NT bid and the requirement of 22 points are total nonsense of course. As for Neg X vs 2D, we know that Georgi and his group prefer to show 2 suits whenever they can. Recall the discussions where he defends the blatant error of making a responsive double with 5 Spades after 2H - Dbl - 3H. I would choose 2D with this hand also but at least double isn't outrageously wrong.
