Bbradley62
Note: 2N is game forcing. The "I just have minimum junk" bid over 2♦ is 2♠.
mike777
good problem I will try 3s slam try. I understand 3c but afraid that will lead to a confusing auction.
sfi
Note: 2N is game forcing. The "I just have minimum junk" bid over 2♦ is 2♠. It doesn't look like this is correct. The system notes show this as a minimum (13-15 point) hand, so opener could pass a 3D rebid. Responder cannot pass 2NT though.
rmnka447
You've shown presumably 10+ by bidding 2 ♦ over 1 ♠. So any new suit by you should be forcing for at least one round. You have at least an 8 card ♠ fit, so you plan to play in at least 4 ♠. However, your hand is more than a minimum range opener because of the void and good suits. There is no reason not to show your second suit and continue to force partner. So I think 3 ♣ is the proper bid. Your plan is to raise to at least 4 ♠ on the next round. At this point in the auction, a 3 ♠ bid would be only invitational. 4 ♠ would show a game going hand, but is in effect a sign off. With the right minimum range opener for partner, slam is still possible -- something like ♠ AKQxx ♥ xxx ♦ Kx ♣ xxx is enough.
whereagles
3♣ seems forcing and obvious. However, if there's a risk of partner passing it, the best bid is probably 6♦, which rates to be the percentage call.

That information - that you need a new partner - is more valuable than the result of any one hand.
neilkaz
Another 3♣ bidder here.
kenrexford
If I had to cut with a butter knife, 4♥ is a really good option.
neilkaz
If I had to cut with a butter knife, 4♥ is a really good option.I don't mind 4♥ provided my PD understands it and that I'm willing to get into a "what else could it be but a 3 card splinter" post mortum :)

lrussell
3♦ is non-forcing in SAYC. 3♣ is my call.

Playing it as a S splinter is an instant nomination for the partner torture club.

I agree, but if you play SJS that hand started with 3♦ so it agrees spades, hence the comment I made.
