Jinksy
[hv=pc=n&w=s7532hdajt95caj82&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1hp4h]133|200[/hv] Your call? Do you then plan to pass NF bids throughout? (eta) to clarify the second question, I mean whatever your call here, do you intend to pass any non-forcing bids your partner makes, or might you for eg pull if you land in 4Sx? gordontd
I pass and I'm not sure what the second question means.
whereagles
4♥ is what?
MrAce
Easy dbl for meIf pd sits I have nothing to feel guilty with 2 bullets, if he bids I am happy.4♥ is what?I think this is irrelevant. If it's strong and not necessarily long trumps pd will have a stack. If it's long trumps, which is likely then passing 4h at these colors can hardly be a winner in long run IMHO. the hog
I certainly pass this. I also do not understand the second question.
MrAce
Seriously, Jinsky, what's the 2nd question ?
mr1303
To my unqualified eye, the second question means that if either a) opps bid 5H directly or b) partner bids something (4S, 5 of a minor) and opps compete to 5H, or c) partner bids anything other than 5H, do you intend to pass? The answer is yes. I'm much happier about defending 5H than 4H.
BillPatch
To mr1303 if partner advances 4NT, my understanding is that he has made a forcing bid, asking my choice of minors.
Jinksy
I pass and I'm not sure what the second question means. Hopefully clarified now in OP.
gordontd
Hopefully clarified now in OP.Not really. Are you wondering if I would pull 4S if my partner bid it and it was doubled?!!
RMB1
Not really. Are you wondering if I would pull 4S if my partner bid it and it was doubled?!! I think the OP was wondering that if you acted (X, 4NT, 5♦) now and partner bids (4♠, 5♣) do you pass (and do you Pass if opponents double). PhilKing
I think the OP was wondering that if you acted (X, 4NT, 5♦) now and partner bids (4♠, 5♣) do you pass (and do you Pass if opponents double). I'd pull if pard bid 4♠ slowly. B-)
cherdano
I'd pull if pard bid 4♠ slowly. B-)Best to pull slowly to 4NT.
gszes
x and yes I would leave 4sx in
Jinksy
Not really. Are you wondering if I would pull 4S if my partner bid it and it was doubled?!! Yes, for eg.
gordontd
Yes, for eg.Well I'd have four-card support for partner and three first-round controls! I certainly wouldn't pull it.
the hog
Yes, for eg. The question is totally illogical. Presumably you doubled to find a fit with your partner. Now that he has shown you a fit you are asking whether we would pull it to another suit where maybe no fit exists? Really?

Really? :blink:Agreed completely and note also that you'd be pulling a 10 trick contract to an 11 trick contract. Pulling 4♠X after doubling here would threaten partnership stability for me. You make your bed when you X here and now you have to lie in it.
