strange Twist on ELC?

Recommended Posts

A sequence this evening gave me a thought, which is always dangerous. Partner had 5S/6D and heard 1H-P-2H-?

Doubling with an ELC treatment puts 10 cards on the table. Something about this seems intriguing.

In some partnerships I play Leaping Michaels in this auction. If not playing that, I would unimaginatively bid one of my suits and then take a view on whether to show the other one.

Doubling with this shape is dangerous, because partner may compete in clubs at a high level. And it loses the fifth spade, which is rather more important than some of the other ten cards that Ken wants to show.
