kibs disallowed

Recommended Posts

beats me, but i'm already on record as wishing the 'ban kibs' option was taken out of tourneys.. i can think of only two reasons for this

1) the players are extraordinarily shy

2) someone fears cheating

for excessive shyness i recommend a martini... for the other ... let the cheaters cheat... they're miserable human beings anyway, let them add to their misery karma

i wasnt trying to resurrect the 'cheaters' thread .. just wanted to see the last 3 boards of a match when one table was delayed by discs & player leaving for legitimate & explained reason. Still not sure what went 'wrong' if anything :P

Last night I was kibbing a friend. When the tables moved I was still looking at the movie to see if some variant play would work out better. When I looked at the table again, my friend was away, and a new EW were still busy in their Portuguese conversation. The other pair demanded rather sharp to stop it, they did it right away, apologised, and said they asked about each others family. (Which was highly probable seeing names in the text). The other pair did not graciously accept the apology, but added " In a tournament?" (Why not, if game is over and you wait to move) and "Is that (-me-) your kibber too?". I really got mad than, but was as kibber mute. I changed my flag from Dutch to Portuguese (just to annoy the other pair, I must confess), and sent mail to the player who made the remark, telling him that kibitzers are humans too.

Sorry long story, but what really annoys me is the suspicion against kibbing. Is my impression true that North American players are more prone to these fears? Can we start a Pro Kibitzers Rights campaign? Why not allow table chat from kibitzers after all hands are played?
