Let's get that out of the way. Clear the air. Phew. Done that. Now: Why would North ask for the Q of trumps if not interested in the grand? Perhaps you think this North should be interested in the grand? I suppose 7C is just about in sight if South has S:AxxH:AQxxD:AxC:AQxx but I can't see us finding it even after the 5S Q ask in H My guess is that GIB was only asking after the Q "for practice" and is not programmed to realise that it is forcing to slam just by asking. steve2005
This is one of those hands where 14/30 is better than 30/14. then can Q ask with 5♦
1eyedjack
It is just as likely that next time responder will have one of my aces, and we would then be in the same boat.
Lovera
At limit(=borderline bidding?) You have 12 tricks (at double dummy) because may discard a diamond on spade Ace then ruffing third and also considering that your (balanced) hand is valutable 35 points and more there are 4 aces..is justify to think at grand (with 10 ♣ in East..) but as i have said once this is the case to bid 6 and eventually sign + 1. Furthemore 3♦ is the only bidding of North (8/+ points) and if in spade there is a queen ?
