After rebid 2NT,I have no way to look for 4-4 ♥ fit ：

3♣=5+♣，4+♠

3♦=nmf,5+♠,7+TP.

3♥=5-5 majors (note it is not 4-4 majors)

 

So I only try 3♦ to look for another major fit,however Gib answer 3♠ instead of 3♥ with 4 cards.I lost 4-4 ♥ fit in this hand.

That's because it is normal to respond 1♥ with 4-4 in the majors.

 

Once you ignore the hearts (which was reasonable) you can't explore for hearts without showing 5 spades.

You're right Phil, but shouldn't GIB show 4H before 3S when replying to NMF? Normally we'd want to play the 4-4 instead of the 5-3. If responder then bid 3NT it would correct to 4S.

If 5-4 you don't use NMF, you bid 3♥ naturally.

 

Standard to show 4-card ♥ suit with 1♥ having 4-4 in majors.

Steve, the OP said that 3H is described as 5-5 in the majors, making my point valid.

Under what conditions does GIB think that South would choose to bid 3♦ then 3N over 3♠ rather than just bidding 3N directly over 2N? I don't think the given description of 3N deals with this very well, starting with including the possibility that South has 6 spades.
