mosesgreen
Swiss TeamsNorth deals and holds:S A 10H KD A K Q J 10 9 x xC A Q the bidding:2 C pass 2 H pass 3 D pass 4 C pass 7 D pass pass pass spade lead dummy lays down:S 5H Q 10 9 7 3D 6 5C J 8 7 5 2 In our system the 2 heart bid shows at least one ace and a 5 card heart suit. down two the other table bids 6 diamonds and goes down two. I would rather play 12 point pitch.

Cyberyeti
Your partner is probably used to the style where 2♥ is 0-3 and forgot.

helene_t
Your partner is probably used to the style where 2♥ is 0-3 and forgot. In that case he would probably have bid 3♥ at his second turn. Or maybe pass, or 3NT. In any case his 4♣ bid shows that he intended his 2♥ bid as natural.
Zelandakh
In any case his 4♣ bid shows that he intended his 2♥ bid as natural. Not in face to face bridge. It might also mean partner's lack of alert woke him up.
Bbradley62
Barring a trump lead and another one after you force out ♥A, I'm puzzled as to how you lose more than one trick.
Cyberyeti
Barring a trump lead and another one after you force out ♥A, I'm puzzled as to how you lose more than one trick. On a trump lead you can just ruff a spade and take the club finesse instead of gambling the A♥ and remaining trump are in different hands, if that loses and the second club gets ruffed, that's -2 so either route can be -2. billw55
So your partner forgot your system. Only you know if this is chronic problem. Also it seems that your understanding about the 4♣ bid may not be well developed. I don't think ♥Axxxx and out, plus some club length, is enough to justify a leap straight to 7♦. Is that hand within your understanding of partner's bidding? Have you discussed it with him?
Lord Molyb
I'm glad that you realized that your partner (north) is such a bad bidder. Although a hand where you misbid (as south) may not be a great example of this...
fromageGB
He probably plays other times with a partner where 2♦ is the positive reply, so he is just bidding his weak hand naturally. It happens. No problem, move on to the next hand.
