gwnn
Bidding practice, but let's say red@imps. KxxATxxQJ9xAx 1♠-2♣ 11-17, 5+♠-GF relay2♠-2NT 15-17 with ♦-relay3♣-3♦ 5-4 - relay3♠-??? 5143 - ??? You can do the following:bid 4♦ terminator to sign off in 4♠bid 4♦ terminator to sign off in 5♦bid 4♠, slam invitebid 5♦, slam invitebid 4♣ (puppet to 4♦) then 4♥ RKC for ♠bid 4♣ (puppet to 4♦) then 4♠ RKC for ♦We don't really have a clever spiral ask after the bottom two options, I guess we should... helene_t
We are missing appr 10 HCPs, with a little luck that includes most of ♥KQJ ♣QJ so we have almost everything else. So I want to be in slam. If I can't verify both ♠KQ and ♦K (or, alternatively, ♠K ♦K ♣KQ) I am not going for 7. I think I'll just blast 6♦. gnasher
AQJxx x AKxx xxx is an excellent grand slam, and so is AQxxx x AKxx Kxx. Axxxx x AKxx KQx is OK too. Can I agree diamonds, hear about three keycards, and then bid 5♠ as a grand-slam try?
Cyberyeti
You have the space, you should have a way of making a 6-ace ask. With the system given, I keycard in spades then bid 5N over 2+ which hopefully asks for a side K other than hearts which I could have asked for by bidding 5♥, if partner bids 6♣ I bid 6♦ which I would expect partner to raise to 7 with the K. Mbodell
I'd key card in diamonds, and assuming 3, then I'd king ask. As long as he doesn't show the ♥K I think I want to be in 7♦. If he has the K of clubs I want to be in 7♦ (not guaranteed, but quite likely I think since partner will of shown 14 and any of ♠Q or ♣Q should be enough to make spades good on reasonable splits, and if neither of those a black J is good enough for a finesse at worse for the same). If he doesn't have the K of clubs or hearts then he has 11 points from ♠A and ♦AK and the missing cards are ♠QJ, ♥QJ, and ♣QJ and he needs at least 4 points. The spades are each 4 times as likely as the hearts and 4/3 as likely as the clubs based on his shape and known cards.
gwnn
Partner had a slightly unhelpful singleton heart: AJxxxKATxxKxx And spades and diamonds were both offside (I keycarded in spades for what it's worth). Oh well.
chasetb
That hand belongs in Bridge Hell, that's awful to bid a very nice slam that goes off.
the hog
Opener should not count the stiff H as part of his 15 count, but should downgrade the hand. Also 3S is awfully high for showing a 1345 shape.
