Since the 3N description includes "4♠", not "4+♠", it should also include "3-♥". Maybe then East won't include impossibilities in his simulations.

surely with 4♥ & 4♠ Gib bids 1♥ first and any better isn't jumping to 3N. So 4♥ looks to be horrid 4-3 or even 4-2

In real life, yes... But I'm not sure I necessarily know how GIB keeps track of these things... If what East actually "knows" is what is included in the description of 3N, that would be bad, so that's where I'm suggesting the programmer starts to look.
