I opened with a spade.... robot responded 1 NT. there were 12 HCP in robot's hand. It was the difference between 3 and 4. Frustrating. Thanks.

If you passed, it was your fault; the robots play 2/1 GF, not just plain SA, it's standard for 1nt (which is forcing in 2/1 for most, including the bots) to have up to a 12 count.

Hey AK1Aleen and welcome to the forums.

If you click on the yellow bids the bot makes, you can find out what they mean. In this case you'd see 3♠ is 10-12 HCP with 3 spades, and could judge to raise to game.

1.) That is 11 HCP, and since GIB plays 2/1, it has to bid 1NT because it can't bid 2♦.

 

2.) Once GIB jumps, you have a pretty good picture of it's hand - a Limit Raise with 3 trump. You have to go because you have a prime 14 HCP with two doubletons for a 16 count.
