two over one

Recommended Posts

Is the minor clubs or diamonds? If clubs then a bad 10 count might respond in the major and pass, while a good 10 count would respond in the major and then raise clubs. If the minor is diamonds you would respond in the major and usually pass 2. If the hand is too good to pass then methods come into it because many play a 2 rebid here as artificial. 2, 2NT and 3 would be the usual contenders for showing an invite with this shape.

Hi,

the problem shape is having a singleton in partners suit,

otherwise you have a fit, i.e. you can make an inv. raise.

If you have a single in partners suit, either pass, the best

bid, if your 10HCP are made up by Jacks and Queends - a reason

to downgrade, or bid 2S, if you have a good spade suit.

The alternative would be to sell the hand as bal., and bid 2NT,

an overbid, but sometimes you have to make a decision.

With kind regards

Marlowe
