1 (16+) - 1 (spades)

1 (rel) - 1nt (diams, balanced, or 3-suited)

2 (rel) - 2 (4 longer diams)

2 (rel) - 2n (short heart)

3 (rel) - 3 (4063)

4 (rel) - 4 (2-3 RP)

4 (rel) - 4n (3 RP 0/2 top diams)

5 (to play)

This reveals basically the whole hand (up to jacks). I would sign off in 5 at this point, because I know slam is at best on a diamond finesse, with additional issues if diamonds are 1-3 (quick ruff for the set) or spades are 4-1 or worse (I don't know the spade jack is in partner's hand). Note that it's worth relaying with 4 because I can still play 4 when partner has 2 RP, and because if partner has A instead of KQ the slam is virtually cold (in fact makes seven if diamonds divide).

Silent Club:

This is a preempt for us.

2-3 weak (3-8ish), diamonds and a major; GF ask

3-3 4 spades/5+; sets trump

4-4N natural, shapely max; RKC

5-5 0/3; signoff

Even with some extra shape, missing the A is bad and with only a 4-4 spade fit it doesn't seem right to push when we've got at most 31 combined highs. Here's the non-preempt auction, not a great one for us:

P-1 pretending we'd pass; 16+

1-2 most 0-7; standard "strong 2C"

2-2N GF values, waiting with no good suit; balanced 22+

3-3N puppet stayman; 4-4 majors

4-4 extras, agreeing spades; cue

4-P nothing more to say

Jxxx x QJxxxx xx is a good slam though (although better in diamonds)? And that's not even a "max"?

1-1 (16+ ; 0-7 any or GF 4441)

2-2 (kokish ; obligated)

2NT-3 (GF bal ; Muppet Stayman)

3-3 (4M ; 4 not 4)

3-3NT (sets trumps ; slam interest (but not serious))

4-4 (cue ; last train)

4?-pass (it's not like we have extras and the contract is wrongsided ; possibly no control)

Opener might bid on instead of signing off after which we end up in slam. Not sure if he should move opposite a light slam interest with just Kxx but partner is clearly looking for a control here.

Two-way pass:

pass 1

2 3

3 3

4NT 5NT

6

pass = 0-8 or 15+

1 = 0-8 or 15+

2 = balanced 21+, unlimited

3 = puppet stayman

3 = 4 or 5 spades

5NT = even number of key cards and a void

Optimistic, but playable. Ok if North decides to hide the void, this probably ends up in 5.
