georgi
To use book bid 5NT GIB needs 25+TP ( used to be 28+TP) based on new ranges for 6,7 levels in suit/NT in next v30. NT ranges are increased a bit, suit levels are decreased a bit. However, with having 22TP GIB cannot use it directly. 6M looks sufficient and it picks the call. After simulation it bids 5NT in 99% of cases. Probably it was basic GIB, but anyway it will be addressed for improvement.
1eyedjack
Yes, the test when deciding to use 5N GSF should not be "do I have enough total points, by reference to some arbitrary limit?", but rather "would the response to 5N tell me everything I need to know to place the contract?" Bbradley62
Wouldn't RKB provide the answers also? PS: You might even bid 7♥ if you find out that partner holds ♥A but not ♥Q.
georgi
In theory 4NT RKCB could provide answer unless partner might reply 5NT or up showing void, then queen of trump would remain untraceable. Having 7 + 3 trumps makes queen needless, but in other circumstances it might be precious.
