why is BBO dealing us so very many unusual distribution challenged hands??/

Too many hands seem to be dealt by BBO which are very distribution challenged and whislt these hands can be good fun, too many of them are served up as normal on BBO and it is NOT normal to get so many of these. There have been periods where several of us have realized that someone from BBO is deliberately changing the parameters of the deal source to make it so...

Please let us play good bridge with normal hands..

I checked "The List" and you are on the list to get goulash hands. You should apply to get on the list for flat hands. I would also apply to get on the list for excess high card points because nobody likes to be dummy.

I think you are mistaken. The hands seem very normal. The good thing about online bridge, you can call up the hands you played and check them

Here are the first large bunch of hands you played on 5/15/2014 (of course this is my time, as that is how myhands pulls them up. The first one was played against lybira and liondanial. The following is a list of the most distributional hand at the table and your shape. Looks perfectly normal to me. Feel free to check these or other hands and see if you REally think they are not random.

Kortenhouf, I have noticed the hands follow a monthly cycle. And when many repeat hands with slight suit value changes happen it makes me think the hands really are being used for research by someone. The good news is wait a few days and the weird deals will get flatter.

The hands are perfectly random for all we know. People have selective perception and tend to notice more patters than there really are.

The list Inquiry posted looks slightly flatter than expected with Kortenhoef getting no voids and just six singletons. But of course it is just a coincidence.

I can understand why he is pissed off, he is always having balanced crap while everyone else is having some 5431 to kick his ass.

Yes.

Also - I notice that on some days my hands seem to average low in points relative to the other hands. This results in having to play defense all day, and try as we might, my partner and I end up with the short end of the stick when the IMPs are distributed.

It's obvious to me that BBO is punishing us on random days because my partner and I play regularly together.

I have a feeling that finesses almost always work at my local club but fail when playing online against GIB. It could be that GIB is good at giving me losing options while the players at my club give me some clues to the location of their queens which I pick up subconsciously. But most of the effect is probably just biased perception.

We deal random hands except when:

a. in a "best hand for south" context in some robot Ts

b. TD specifies deal set for his own tourney ( we don't do this for any of our own tourneys ATM)

c. Table host uploads prepared/constructed deals at teaching/partnershipbidding tables

The gibs tend to lead passively, they don't like to give up tricks on opening lead.. i think that given the style, hooks into opening leader will tend to fail more often than they'll work?

Tell me about it! Yesterday I played for the QH to drop "eight never, nine ever" and to my shock -- Instead of the QH dropping my Ace of Hearts lost to the Ace of DOUBLE HEARTS! Fred didn't tell me he swapped the deck with one of his grandkid's games. I guess I should pay more a month.

I agree, someone at BBO is editing or stacking the hands. I have reported this to the ACBL Director, but they do nothing.

I feel these stacked hands encourage cheating and reward bad bidding and play. But to date BBO refuses to address the

problem, or the BBO person who is doing this. I think BBO should remove them from the payroll. I would like to see ACBL stop

awarding master points on BBO until there is an investigation.

I mostly play ACBL Regional Tournaments, and do not see hands of this nature, and

not three or four in a row like they seem to show up on BBO.

Let's play a little game

Please provide a specific description of how the hands on BBO are "fixed".

After you go and do this, I'll analyze the next month worth of hands that you play and we'll see how well your claims accord with reality...

Somebody needs to take a break. There is no "fix" in. What would BBO gain from it? It is in the same position as a blackjack dealer in a casino. It just collects the money. It doesn't think about who is winning or losing. It gets paid either way.

Better yet, tell us what the problem is so we can analyze hands you've played recently (1200+ hands over the past several weeks), so you don't think BBO is changing their routine to avoid the problem you specify.

I suspect that 1200 hands gives more than enough to mine to find some silly pattern

I doubt that even the most paranoid would believe that BBO would change their entire dealing system just to ***** with them...

Making people specify a claim before the boards get dealt is a much better way to control the experiment...

I'm not saying I am or am not responsible for the stacked hands, but if you send me $100, I will perform an exorcism on the card generator to return things to normal. For $1000, I can guarantee you that every finesse you take will work, and every suit will break normally. If you are not 100% satisfied, I will return almost half of your payment.

I visualize gremlins inside BBO's computer, rubbing their hands with glee. Only I don't notice any effect on hand distributions; they're too busy making my robot partners bid like morons. ;-D
