whereagles
Pet two-way pass: pass(1) 1♣(2) pass(3) pass1NT(4) 2♣(5) dbl(6) passpass(7) pass (1) 0-8 or 15+(2) I guess West opens this..?(3) Overcalls only on hands of 9+, i.e. which would be GF opposite the strong pass variant.(4) 15-17(5) Assuming West insists on showing his clubs..?(6) Stayman(7) What else? Not sure what this would fare... Probably North will blow a trick on the heart lead. We'll probably get 7 or 8 tricks, so it's borderline. akhare
1♣ - (2♣) - 2♠ (16+; overcall; natural GF)4♠ Note that North other option was to bid X as 5-7, but with shortness in their suit and no wasted values, it seems best to stretch and ensure a comfortable rebid over further competition. kenrexford
I must be getting old. My mundane auction involves a 1NT open, negative double, 2S rebid, and jump to game.

No. We're looking at strong club auctions and many of us are using a 14-16 NT so this hand qualifies. Btw this deal was actually played. I've learned a lot from these threads and even switched strong club structures as a result. If you have a strong club system you like, maybe you can post how your bidding would go. This is a 1NT bid in my version of Blue Team Club, and also in the classic version.

straube
Oh. I've been submitting some two-way forcing pass auctions in the threads. Are these of any use to you? My goal is to compare and learn from strong club systems, but feel free. We've had Polish etc club and I think the forum members have taken an interest in non-club systems as well. awm
A lot of possibilities here... How about: 1♣ (16+) - (2♣ overcall) - Dbl (takeout 5+ hcp)Pass Or opener can rebid: 2♦ - 2♠ (flexible hand)3♠ - 4♠

Free
Lots of choices to make here imo, it could go all sorts of ways. After the 2♣ overcall North can decide to upgrade to a GF hand (which makes things easy) or he can make the systemic Dbl showing 6-7HCP. If he Doubled, then opener can bid 2♦ or 2NT. I prefer 2NT because it gets your HCP range AND shape of your chest. Not sure if I still play system on here, but I guess so...1♣-(2♣)-Dbl? (16+ ; 6-7HCP)2NT?-3♣? (balanced 17-18 ; system on? upgrading to GF anyway with muppet stayman? perhaps just 3♠ natural?)3♥-3NT (no 4/5M ; 5♠-4♥)4♠-pass (fit ; great)
