On a side note, do you agree with 3♥ or would you have simply bid game in spades? Would you bid differently if you were playing a longer match?

I'll pass. I don't think we're in a force. Partner didn't compete to 4S and didn't double 5C. Curious that LHO passes 2H and then bids clubs. I expect he thinks he is saving, but maybe the cards are situated such that it's making or down 1. I doubt we're making 5S. I think I'd prefer 4S to 3H initially.

2 Aces are to much to pass imo and I know they can not redouble.

 

About forcing pass, it depends on agreements I guess. They are white and we are red, they stayed in part score and then they bid at 5 level after we bid our game. If they are making it they will make doubled but I do not rely on forcing pass when doubling them, even though some may play this as forcing pass auction, which is reasonable btw.

If I dont want to bid 5S now, I should have bid

4S instead of 3H, which I dont like at all.

given the bidding it would hardly be unreasonable for p to hold 3 and

possibly even 4 hearts. Imagine p with a min 2s balance say

KQJxx Axxx xx x this hand will not accept your game invite yet your

side will not go down more than 1 in 5s while the opps probably roll

home in 5c. It is a tad scary to consider bidding 5s since we are

anything but certain we can set 6c but the way the bidding has gone

it seems an unlikely position for the opps to take and I know I am

a ton happier if can x them in 6c rather than 5c:)))))))))))))))))))

I have a few questions for the forum. Does the 3H bid by this hand that has passed promise a good raise or can it be an awkward hand without a fit or stop? Is there a standard treatment or is this a partnership agreement? I personally would rather sacrifice a 4H splinter and use 3H as no fit/values, 3S as a raise, 4m as fit-showing and 4H as a good raise to 4S. Or switch 4C and 4H around even better.

 

If 3H is just a better raise to 3S, it ought not create a force. If it is a bid that promises a rebid, then it ought to create a force in case next hand bids 5C or whatever. Seeing as how balancer neither doubled or bid 4S over 4C, should a force (if it ever existed) still be on? What's the need really?

3♥ promises a fit, it is the strong raise, as oposed to 3♠ with will be 9-11 or so.

 

counting 2 aces on defence with 11+ spades is counting badly.

 

I hope 5♠ outscores 5♣, they cannot be sure of anything on this bidding I hope.
