VUL vs NV

Partner RHO You LHO

---P------2----P-------2

---P------2NT---P-------3NT

2 = Preemptive Weak two diamonds

2= Natural, Forcing 1 round

2NT/3NT = Natural

Opponent is not very strong.

Preemptive style is undisciplined and tends to be aggressive, Diamonds can vary from 5-6 cards, 4 cards Major is possible.

To simplify the issue, assume there's not much difference in which card you lead from individual suit.

Which suit is your choice from this hand?

Imp,

Nothing special here actually, just some opinion collection.

I just hold a little point that 2D opener has bigger chance for four club than four hearts, and responder has it's chance to bid heart but not likely clubs

And four cards of club but not five cards of club makes your risk gain ratio increase, thus making a heart lead superior.

My little opinion only and this want to collect some others opinion, nothing fancy

I'm leading a club. It wouldn't surprise me to find that partner has four hearts, but I know that I have four clubs. And yes, there might be a stiff Q the dummy but I am still leading small.

If I had a diamond trick ion my hand I might give some thought to leading the Q of hearts. The idea would be that maybe partner has five hearts and they have Ax. Or some such. I am not sure I woould do it, but I think that it is worth considering. I would not lead a small heart.

On second thought, if I led hearts I would probably lead small. But I doubt I am leading a heart.

I did see that the OP suggested that we don't focus on which card to lead. But I don't think that is realistic. Which suit I would lead and which card I would lead from it are linked.
