Antrax
[hv=pc=n&n=sakj98hjd4cakj875&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=p1hp1sp2dp3c(FSF)p3n(Or%203%21D%20or%203%21H%2C%20didn%27t%20matter)p4c(4+%21S%3B%204+%21C%3B%2013+%20TP)p]133|200[/hv]Now South has no good bid. 4♠ shows 3 for some reason, 5♣ shows four of them (!) and bidding a red suit had one of those 6+ suit, rebiddable suit, 4 card suit explanations and made GIB support it with its singleton. a) Why can't GIB just bid 2/1 with its GF 6-5 hand?b) Why does 4♣ show such modest lengths in the description? Presumably GIB wouldn't really remove 3NT to show a four-card suit. Which brings us to:c) Why on earth would 5♣ require four of them? What is opener's rebid here that says "leave me alone, we're in a misfit auction"? 4NT was blackwood, of course.
Bbradley62
Are you sure alternatives to 3N "didn't matter"? It would be nice to see the actual descriptions provided by GIB. Does 3N show at least a partial club stopper? Hopefully it denies 3 spades. It might even deny 5 diamonds or 6 hearts. I wonder whether 4N would have been 4-ace Blackwood over 3N; that would be nice, since you very likely want to be in a club slam. Certainly, 5♣ requiring 4-card support is directly tied to GIB's thinking that 4♣ only shows a 4-card suit.
steve2005
south bids 3♠ not 3N at last turn with 3♠, so 4♠ now should be like Qx what's south's hand?
cloa513
GIB does an awful job with reverses always underbidding- I bid 3NT showing 18-20HCP and it holding 13 HCP passes. At least with this hand it gave you more information though the TP is not useful should be just HCP- now bid 6NT or ask for aces along the way. Antrax
4♠ now should be like QxThat's one of my points, yes. what's south's hand?I didn't include it because it wasn't relevant to the thread. If memory serves it was 2=5=4=2 with good hearts, lousy diamonds and ♣Kx, something like ♠xx ♥AKQxx ♦xxxx ♣Kx.

AK1Aleen
I think your (everyone's!) knowledge is way above mine... but here I go anyway: WHY OH WHY does GIB bid 4NT, in a perfect progression to Blackwood, I bid 5 spades (2 aces) and GIB PASSES. We should have been at 6 or 7 NT. I love the title of this thread. Torture, indeed!
