n51cnf
I set up my 1st tourney yesterday. It was nearly a nightmare then. I kept rushing here and there to answer players' calls, most of them are substitution requests, others are non-English language and lackage of alert. After the tourney, i thought about all the problems i met in it, and my suggestion as followed:Unless the diectors can concentrate on business which really need to be dealt with, e.g. arbitration, they can not do their job well to satisfy the players. If the program can help directors in substitutions, it will help a lot. The possible promotions are:1. add "need sub" button and add "remain reservation for _ minutes" parameter when set up a tourney. The "need sub" button remains unavailable(grey) until the player lost connection for more than the parameter.2. build up a queue of substitutions. players can apply for substitutions of a tourney. The ealier one applies, the more forward position he gets in the queue. So the director can easily choose a sub according to the queue. The candidates are considered willing to sub unless they cancel the application beforehand.furthermore, I hope the program can automatically give some introductions according to the set-up parameters, e.g. total boards/rounds, rules, etc. So players can easily know what is the tourney going to be.I hope my suggestions do help bbo to have better tourney functions. Karma
Suggestions after a few tourneys:- clocked rounds, 8 minutes in a small field, longer in a bigger field- keep the length medium, 10-12 boards. In longer tourneys, players will leave in the middle.- I tried 1 board rounds and gave up, too many disconnects on the round changes.
