SNTSNT7
With 5-4 in Majors if responder starts by using Stayman even though hand is weak does opener have to alert? What is the best source on Alerting rules?
Stephen Tu
(1) Not in most places.(2) Search for your country's bridge governing body's web site. E.g. ACBL (American contract bridge league) in US/Canada, EBU (English bridge union) in Britain, etc. BBO being American based tends to adhere towards ACBL alerting standards, though being online you can/should self-alert liberally to the opponents (using private chat/alert messages) with your partner being in the dark. blackshoe
Mexico is also part of the ACBL. The English Bridge Union has jurisdiction over England only. There is also the Scottish Bridge Union and the Welsh Bridge Union in Britain.
