Double jump when partner doubles for take out

Today, in this sequence:

[hv=d=s&v=0&b=11&a=pp1dx1h?]133|100[/hv]

Partner held:

[hv=pc=n&w=sqt9843hdt974cq83]133|200[/hv]

Is 3 called for? What would a double jump mean? What if South had passed? What if you're not a passed-hand?

Do you mean?:

Today, in this sequence:

[hv=d=s&v=0&b=11&a=pp1dd1h?]133|100[/hv]

Our agreement is that all jumps are weak. I would bid 3 or 4 (probably 3 at MPs and 4 at IMPs)

Most common use of this 3 bid here are divided into 2 groups.

1- Who plays it jump response with 5 cards while 2 would be 4 cards invitational.

2- Preemptive values and long spades, kinda picture bid, similar to what you have in OP.

I like the 2nd option myself. When i asked to top players about what would be the typical hand for this bid , 2years ago, the most common answer was "Q 6th and out"

I am very tempted to just bid 4 with your hand, knowing that pd is likely to hold at most 2 diamonds most of the time. However 3 is enough in case pd started double with a strong or hand and does not have as many spades as we predict and/or not as short diamonds as we predict. If he has those he can bid it himself most of the time, and we leave space for pd if he has strong hand with clubs. We have more than just tolerance in clubs and a good dummy for 5. If pd bids 4 i will take it natural, not a cue.

I agree with MrAce and have upvoted him. I know some here who play his first option and I have never understood the real life benefits of that method.

What is more interesting imho, and what I thought this thread was going to be about, would be the meanings of 3 and 3 in the OP auction. Jump cue comes up sometimes in BBF discussions but cannot remember seeing a thread in this position where we can also jump in RHO's suit.
