LearnThis1
[hv=pc=n&s=s653h7dqt9872c832&w=skqjha4da3ckqjt94&n=s82hkjt653dj65c75&e=sat974hq982dk4ca6&d=s&v=n&b=15&a=p1c2h2s3d3hp4hp4np5hp6sppp&p=h7h4hkh2]399|300[/hv] Knowing E went for the finesse of Q!h, why isn't the bot in this example, with all the bidding, not leading back, safely, to a dry A!h? It's not shown to be a positive play within this hand and the way it started off(pointless finesse)? I'd really like to understand this with as much feedback as possible. Thx in advanced. ;) Also, new to this and it doesn't add the next card that the bot played...it was the 5!c.
Antrax
Most likely your 3♦ bid confused the bot and it was going for 2 down based on what it thought you had.
johnu
Most likely your 3♦ bid confused the bot and it was going for 2 down based on what it thought you had. That doesn't explain why declarer didn't just play ♥A and claim with 14 top tricks. Probably was one of the basic bots which sometimes make totally random bids and plays at times. Of course, so do the advanced bots, but not nearly as often. You basically get what you paid for with the free random bots.

Antrax
That doesn't explain why declarer didn't just play ♥A and claim with 14 top tricks. It actually does. This keeps coming up. If the auction tells GIB S must have the ♥K then both ♥A and ♥x are for 14 tricks, so it'll choose one of them randomly since they're equal. We're humans, so we can reason along the lines of "but the A is safer on the off-chance S doesn't have his bid". GIB doesn't work like that.

GIB doesn't work like that. Didn't North's 2♥ bid show 6 hearts which must include the ♥K since South didn't lead it? I would think the 2♥ bid would have more weight in the heart suit, but then I'm always amazed at some of the GIB plays. If GIB considers the 2♥ bid, then it is 100% to play the ace under every simulation.
Antrax
6 hearts which must include the ♥K since South didn't lead it?Human thinking again. I could be off here BTW, since to GIB it must appear that either S or N psyched, there are only 7 HCPs unaccounted for and both showed 6+. I'm not sure in what order it distributes HCP in order to simulate hands. The point here is that if you psyche, you'll confuse GIB, and it will never catch on. GIB doesn't work like that.Only it didn't run one single Double Dummy(DD) analysis before responding to the lead. Obviously GIB doesn't use DD analysis or it so corrupted that it can't do that right. Obviously it didn't use DD in the bidding otherwise 7S or 7NT is an inescapable final bid.

It placed South with HK and DD analysed that low to Q was equivalent to Ace.

I agree 1000% about psyching confusing GIB. Georgi - What happens when there is a psych, or in this case, multiple psychs?
