Declarer's losing spade gets parked on dummies 4th diamond. :o
Fluffy
depends on dummy, but I would normally overtake
EricK
depends on dummy, but I would normally overtake3rd hand high; cover an honour with an honour. All the bridge rules tell you to overtake here ;)
gszes
if p is trying to find a killing lead there is little to no benefit to leadingthe K (empty) when his RHO (the 2N opener) rates to have the power. A low leadfrom the K under those circumstances might get a misguess from declarer. Whenp leads the K under these conditions it is pretty much 100% they have the Q sorather than trying to be cute use brute force and overtake and return unlessyou have a strong reason to avoid doing that (no such circumstance is present here). Normal opening lead and the lack of overtake was the weak play:))))))))
Wackojack
[hv=pc=n&s=sa743ht7d432ct942&e=sj985hq965dkq96cq]266|200[/hv]Sorry the whole point of the post was lost when I didnt show the east hand which I meant to do. I was the idiot South partnering a robot against a robot west declarer. Yes just overtake. But partner robot might be a genius finding the killing lead from Kx. Robot west apparently has nothing to gain and everything to lose by ducking, seeing the J♠ in dummy. So Robot North should twig that Robot West cannot have the ace unless he is playing a doubly deep game. So to allow for the possibility that Robot partner was a genius I did not overtake. However, as was said by gszes from Kx the lead of the x might be more likely to succeed.
Zelandakh
You said the 7 was encouraging - is that actually true for robots?
mcphee
Please explain why S needs to overtake? If declarer held the A facing dummies J they win.
Fluffy
declarer had open 2NT, so he cannot have spade singleton, so it is your fault if it is IMPs, at MPs there could be some appeal for 2 down and I would need to think more. There is a zero chance of a Kx lead against a slam in dummy's suit. If declarer could have spade singleton it would be different since ♠A could squeeze partner or even endplay him if declarer is void (see hand 22 of the NEC Cup challengue on my website for a sad story about overtaking)
