steve2005
silly question but why did bot bid 3♠? there is no chance of slam as partner is passed hand. should just bid 3♥ or 4♥
Antrax
Presumably to show two places to play, or keep 3NT in the picture?
iandayre
This a problem auction for the bots. One, they cuebid with X number (11 I believe) of HCP even if partner is balancing, leading to getting way too high. Two, they may have sound stoppers in the opps suit, but they cuebid instead of bidding NT themselves, leaving partner, who has no stopper, to bid a suit and often, as after a double of a weak 2 bid, you get past 3NT. steve2005
Presumably to show two places to play, or keep 3NT in the picture?the only way to 3N is to bid instead of 3♠. two places to play? 4♣? thats not game. 5♣ unlikely as partner has passed already
johnu
silly question but why did bot bid 3♠? there is no chance of slam as partner is passed hand. should just bid 3♥ or 4♥ A non-forcing 3♥? Really? With most of the opponents points marked in the South hand, who's going to stop short of game with strong NT strength in back of the opening bidder? 4♥ - Did I miss where partner promised 4 hearts? And even if partner had 4 hearts, a spade ruff by North could sink 4♥. edit: 3♠ is a GIB special :( I would bid 3NT as the most likely game playing with bots. Antrax
Which is why I psyched, really, I didn't even check the bid description until after the hand. However, as you know GIB often thinks a desire to compete shows extra strength rather than just shape.
