OK, I lied with the Spade splinter. Trouble is, I forget the precise wording the explanation of 4N (where I bid 4S), but it was not Blackwood of any flavour. I figured that if I bid 4S as a splinter, there was a chance that GIB might Blackwood, and then an outside chance that it could follow up with 5N to confirm all key cards held. But it was not to be, and in the end I just had to guess.Well, I guessed that partner may have the Ace of Clubs. Or RHO might have it and LHO not find the Club lead. The double was ominous, but all worked out in the end. You may not like Soloway jump shifts, but I would expect you to agree that you should have the advantage when they crop up.
surelyours
The focus is on 4S. Is 4D-4S a form of splinter? Ok..a new info for me:)

I had no idea what the various followups over 4D meant until I started scrabbling about for something to bid. Hovering your mouse over each option before committing tells you how GIB will interpret it, and 4S here turns out to be splinter.

We can't see the full actual explanation of 4N, but North responded to RKC.[hv=lin=pn|gloster,~~M38913,~~M38911,~~M38912|st%7C%7Cmd%7C2S9QAH37JQKAD6C57K%2CS2367TH9TD5C289TA%2CS48H2D2789JQKAC4Q%2C%7Crh%7C%7Cah%7CBoard%208%7Csv%7Co%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C1D%7Can%7CMinor%20suit%20opening%20--%203%2B%20D%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C2H%7Can%7CSoloway%20jump%20shift%20--%20rebiddable%20H%3B%2017%2B%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C4D%7Can%7CSolid%20suit%20--%2011-21%20HCP%3B%20solid%206-card%20D%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C4N%7Can%7C18-19%20HCP%3B%20rebiddable%20H%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C5S%7Can%7CTwo%20or%20five%20key%20cards%3B%20queen%20--%2011-21%20HCP%3B%20solid%206-card%20D%3B%202%2B%208421%20HCP%20in%20D%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%3B%203%2B%20controls%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C7N%7Can%7C19-%20HCP%3B%20rebiddable%20H%3B%2024%2B%20total%20points%3B%7Cmb%7Cd%7Can%7C4-11%20HCP%3B%2012-%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CC7%7C]360|270[/hv]

Bit of a shame that it interprets D rather than H for the trump suit, having already shown solid D. Not that it makes any diff here
surelyours
A very typical instance showing robot has no idea of which is its goal between tricks and scores.
