Lord Molyb
[hv=pc=n&s=sakq6ht9543dkt9ct&n=s832hdaqj864cj985&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=1c]266|200[/hv]Opponents open 1♣ but are otherwise silent. While 6♦ depends on a 3-3 spade break or east to have ♣AKQ without a trump lead, 5♦ is a very decent contract. How do you bid these hands? gszes
5d is very reasonable to bid even though it looks more like a seeing eye contract than usual. with silent opps after the 1c opener it would go x 3d long strong diamonds and little else my hand becomes much more interesting when I can count 6d 3s all I need is 2 club ruffs to equal 11 I see little reason to bid less than 5d it might easily be wrong but this is a game of % and I see little wrong with trying especially since there is no scientific way to proceed. Cyberyeti
Depends on your doubling/overcalling style, playing traditional overcalls I'd be worried about partner having a heart GOSH and a stiff diamond and my hand being worth one ace, and I'm a bit stuck if he bids 3♥ over 3♦. I suspect I'd bid the same as Kuhchung.
mikeh
anybody claiming to be able to reach game with opps never bidding after 1♣ is probably deluding someone: either themselves or us. Anybody who worries about missing these games is worrying far too much about matters of little significance in playing in real life. The opps have as many hcp as we do, and a double fit, and they don't bid, and S have zero hcp in his long suit opposite not a void but a stiff. Yeah, I am sooo upset I, and everyone else in the room missed game.
