Stephen Tu
It kind of went crazy before the cue bid. Doubling with 3-2-5-3 after 2S is bizarre, pass IMO is normal, I'd want somewhat better for 3D. Then after the cue it strangely bids the clubs instead of diamonds. Whether 4nt after the cue and 4c should be blackwood for clubs is up for debate, perhaps it should be and 2s-x-p-4nt should be the "too strong for 3nt" hand (passing double should also be considered at other vuls, though it would have worked well here with partner having an atypical double hand). You had a chance to pass 5nt which would have worked out best.
1eyedjack
I am not over the moon with the 3S cue, although the X is the greater crime.I get that you have a lot in reserve and 3N has a real risk of missing slam, but still it would have been my choice. MartyD24
hi all, thx for your responses. Well, GIB doubled for take-out with three spades and alerted it as: 2 or less spades and, after my questionable cue, announced 4-5 clubs, but held only three, but held 5 diamonds. hmmm. as far as i understand the meaning of my cue-bid, the purpose is to set up a forcing sequence after the take-out double, but what i realy do not know is, how take-out doubler proceeds thereupon.maybe gib takes it as a game-forcing bid and lacking stoppers in opener´s suit, looking for a fit. i took the 4C bid as a 5-card suit and not interest in 3NT.
