Fluffy Posted February 2, 2014 Report Share Posted February 2, 2014 I would start with clubs and then a spade to ♠Q, since there is no risk on cashing ♣A early even if RHO has ♠A+♣KJ9xx, I will do it at trick 2. Win the first heart in hand then. Depending on opponents it is perhaps better to present ♠Q from hand to avoid it being ducked. If Opponents take ♠A and clear hearts we will be on a strong position. Plan the play. Win the heart A in hand and lead a low club toward the T. I am ultimately going to try for 2 club tricks and leading low toward the t at trick 2 leaves us with all of our offensive options no matter the distribution and if LHO has the J we have made our contract. Starting with the club A and returning another club might assure us of another club trick of rho has KJxxx but it also sets up book for the defense if rho also has the spade A. Starting with low to the T I can cash the club A next and if lho shows out I can abandon clubs and fall back on dia and spades with no direct risk to my contract and since the opps have to keep returning hearts or give me my 9th trick maybe I will soon figure out the heart situation:) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This risks finding that clubs are xx-KJ9x, and the long-heart hand has an entry. What about this line: Win heart in handLow club to the 10Win heart in handLow club to the queenWin heart in dummySpade to the queen At worst we can now test both minor suits without any risk of losing five tricks first.
