ibraves
A hand from the recent BBO-JEC match. Made several errors but was particularly curious about this hand: [hv=pc=n&e=s432hq82d32cakqt8&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=p1cp1hp1sp1np2np3npp]133|200[/hv] Would you double for the club lead? (NB just realized the vuln. is wrong. It's all red) if you double they bid 5♦ which is unbeatable. Partner might be leading a club w/o the x anyway
the_clown
I would double for sure and don't think its close.
Onedown
I would double for sure and don't think its close. I would do something before I doubled, I would stand on my chair and double!
aguahombre
Spoiler? They haven't done that yet. I will laughingly pay off.
HighLow21
If I double, they (spoiler). If I don't double, they make 3NT. If partner has a killing lead he's free to ignore me... but on the auction, he won't. There's no choice but double here.
akhare
+1 for the X.
Fluffy
depends on who the opponents are
Cyberyeti
If I'm a moderate player in Norfolk, I hesitate and pass, partner leads a club and the director doesn't understand and sees no reason to adjust :(
ibraves
Glad to see people agree with the action I took, will just chalk it up to bad luck and move on
fromageGB
If I'm a moderate player in Norfolk, I hesitate and pass, partner leads a club and the director doesn't understand and sees no reason to adjust :(I guess you are hesitating because Lighter doubles haven't crossed the borders yet. mycroft
No, occasionally Lightner doubles backfire. If slam makes anyway, you beat all those giving up -1660; and they can't bid 6NT after a hesitate-and-passout. I don't really need the [/snark] tag, do I?
