Jinksy
Weak and 4, with few system agreements, you have this auction: P P 1C XP 2D X P2H P 2S... Roughly what hand would you expect to find opener with?

Roughly what hand would you expect to find opener with?4=3=1=5 huge 4=2=1=6 huge is also possible Variants with heart shortage seem unlikely. Variants with 5 card spade suits: impossible...should bid spades over 2♦.

Jinksy
How how is huge? What would you consider a minimum?
Endymion77
Well you know that your partner couldn't make a move over 1♣ and you're still trying for game so I guess 4.5-5 losers would be the minimum hand - where a good fit and a cover card (the most you can expect) might produce game. Against the example hand I gave, xxx J10xxx xx Qxx makes 4H a laydown.

What would partner do with: AKxx xx xx AKQxx Or some such 4-5 in the blacks (or even 4-6?) that is good enough to compete but doesn't want to bid game opposite a hand that couldn't bid over X...
