Swatting the MOSCITOs

Recommended Posts

On July 11th, at 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time Bridge Base Online will be hosting an exhibition team game designed to compare and contrast two radically different bidding styles:

Paul Marston will anchor a team of four playing "MOSCITO". MOSCITO employs a strong club, 4 card majors, and an 11+ - 14 HCP NT opening. The MOSCITO system uses extremely light openings coupled with a constructive non-forcing response structure to maximize the pressure on the opponents. Symmetric Relay is used to explore for games and slams.

Fred Gitelman will lead a team employing expert North American methods. This team's approach is based on five card majors, a 15-17 NT opening, and a sound opening style. 2/1 responses normally establish an immediate game force.

Bridge Base Online will provide teams of announcers familiar with both systems who will provide a running commentary about interesting points in both bidding and play. A complete set of hand records will be posted to the Internet.

We hope that this free event will be of interest to the bridge playing public.

1) Will the event be one night only? How long will it run.

2) How do we watch it?

Hey there

The event will be run using the new BBO Team play tables.

I'm not sure precisely how Fred and Uday will set this up, but you should be able to join this game just like any other table.

Currently, we are planning to run this as a one night "special" event.

My guess is that if the event proves extremely popular that someone will try something similar.
