wank
no room for science. just bid what you think you can make. if i were you, i'd think i could make 6c.

CSGibson
at this vulnerability, double looks right. If partner removes, then I'm going slamming.

mfa1010
Double, if partner can pass this takeoutish double I like my chances for a good MP score in 4♥X.
Lurpoa
We think 6♣ is best. Be The ♥ with you.
Cyberyeti
MP playing ACOL so 1C is 4+ N/S known for being a bit eccentric  what now? Eagles Strong or weak NT, opening which suit with 4-4 blacks and which suit with 4-4 minors ? My worry is that partner has ♥Kx and we're going off on a ruff
rmnka447
Double. It looks like partner has to have values in the other side suits for a 2nd seat opening bid. The question is "Does partner have the right cards and distribution for slam?". The answer to that question is not known with any certainty. So, take your positive. If partner shows an unwillingness to defend 4 ♥, then you can think about bidding on to slam.
Fluffy
why is double not unanimous?
Cascade
Double, if partner can pass this takeoutish double I like my chances for a good MP score in 4♥X. I think double is right too. The problem with double is that partner will sometimes bid 4♠ when our best option was to defend 4♥ and moreover after 4♠ we are still not well placed to choose the level in clubs. aguahombre
Hopefully Partner notices the vulnerability as well. She won't be bidding 4S or anything else without some serious distribution.

wank
i should have said that i'm guessing you're playing pairs - you normally do. at imps, the difference between 920 and 800 isn't worth risking for.
aguahombre
Then, there might be: [hv=pc=n&s=s8642hjdj7542cj65&w=skqj5h7dkqtc98743&n=s93hakt98653d86ct&e=sat7hq42da93cakq2]399|300[/hv] Where it is 800 vs -50 Put one of the red Jacks over there, if you don't like the opening bid. mycroft
I would expect that the reason double isn't unanimous is that partner's got clubs or a strong NT, not clubs or a weak NT. I, too, would be concerned about ♥Kx, but that's about it.

MrAce
why is double not unanimous? I think expecting double to be unanimous here shows your lack of experience at bridge and especially at BBF.http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif I bid 6♣, i was right. That does not mean it is the correct bid just because it turned out to be. But unanimous DBL ?
Fluffy
I bid 6♣, i was right. I would say that you weren't right, but rather, that it didn't matter. My partners dn't leave take out doubles with singleton on their suit.

Timo's slam blast is a much closer decision.
MinorKid
It is a certain 6♣ immediately after 1♣.Disregarding the ♥Q you have 17HCP, -1 DP and at least +3 fit points gives you 19 TP.19 + >13 >= 32 Imagining partner hand assuming not counting ♥J for opening bid,6C is certain even through his hand is balanced. What it remain is that what kind of partner's hand worth a blast of 7♣.

Any balanced opener is down off the top, when you see the 4H overcall.

My partners dn't leave take out doubles with singleton on their suit. When i said i was right, i meant to say i was right for this hand, the continuation of my sentence proves that. Btw, i was joking about your experience, obviously, since you have more experience than me in BBF, I was surprised you expected unanimous decision in BBF when we did not have unanimous decisions for the hands much more clear than this one, in the past.http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif
